Dr. Vanessa Jenkins serves as the Director of the Norfolk State University Counseling Center. Through her leadership she has grown the staff from two to five full-time staff and one par-time staff. Dr. Jenkins serves on the Student Affairs and Enrollment Professional Development committee. She has provided leadership and professional development campus wide.

With 25 years of progressive experience leadership development especially in professional and personal development. Dr. Vanessa Jenkins is highly sought after by agencies and companies across the country to provide training and coaching. Her engaging, yet practical style has earned her invitations as keynote speaker in various educational and business arenas. This leadership guru holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and is a member, coach and facilitator with the Dr. John C. Maxwell Team. Dr. Jenkins helps individuals to find their "Why" so that they can begin to understand their purpose and become successful leaders. She was been featured on WHRO, Hot 91.1, NPR and PBS radio and committee member on several leadership development committees.
